Goals and Aims

My aim for the coming half term is to work on my moeller technique and foundation stick control. The moeller is most applicable to accent, paradiddles and flam phrases which are important for creating texture or "timbre" and depth on the kit. Although it applies to all styles of playing i feel it is especially important in more Jazz and groove based styles of music which is mostly what i play. I am looking to increase my control and technical "headroom". I find that when recording and performing my hands are not always even at higher tempos and occasionally my technique limits my ability to play the phrases I would like to. I also will do more wok on internalising time flow and being able to sing or count the pulse over various phrases. I will focus more on technique based study as i have limited access to an acoustic kit at the moment so only have my practice setup at home.

I want to increase my overall hand speed for single strokes, double strokes and free strokes
I will use play through “Tommy Igoe great hands for a life time advanced warm up”  this week. Make a note of how far through i can get.
After a weeks practice I will play it again and see how much faster and more comfortably I can play it hopefully to the end
I will Achieve this goal by practicing the advanced “life time  warm up” everyday for a week. I will focus on correct hand technique using a metronome. I will break it into it's component exercises and post about what I covered an how every time I practice
in this timescale I’m expecting an increase in control and comfort of playing the excersise as much as a dramatic increase in speed. If i practice enough i should be able to get to the end of the warmup to the track.

Improve my Moeller technique with regard to Flams paradiddles and accents
I will use a metronome to see over a week the increase in speed I have achieved playing the Paradiddle, Flam and accent study parts of the “Advanced lifetime warm up”
I will practice the flam, paradiddle and accent parts of the warm up on their own focusing on correct relaxed technique and getting a “clean” sound on the practice pad for 10 mins a day
I feel this will be easy to achieve as long as I can practice everyday. It will be application into a practical playing context that will take some more time.
